There’s a certain mood that settles in as the year comes to a close.
Like a sunset. Softer, quieter, and a little reflective. The light isn’t gone yet, but it’s gentler now, inviting you to pause, look back on what was, and make peace with the day before welcoming what comes next.
I don’t love loud resolution. I do love intention. The kind that asks better questions instead of demanding perfect answers.
Before rushing into the next year, I like to pause here, in the in-between, and take inventory. We are not looking for perfection here, but rather meaning.
Grab yourself a coffee and let’s get started.

Start With Gratitude: Name 3 Things (Don’t Overthinking It)
Gratitude doesn’t need to be grand to be real. In fact, the smaller it is, the more honest it tends to be.
Ask yourself:
- What is one moment this year when I felt genuinely at peace?
Not productive. Not impressive. Just steady. - Who or what supported me more than I realized at the time?
A person, a routine, a habit, a quiet source of strength. - What part of myself showed up, even when it was hard?
Resilience counts. Trying counts. Staying soft in a hard season counts.
Write them down. Let them land. Gratitude anchors you in truth.
Then, Gently Release: 2 Things to Leave in 2025
This part matters just as much as gratitude.
We carry things far longer than they deserve: habits, beliefs, expectations that quietly drain us.
Ask yourself:
- What did I keep doing this year out of obligation rather than alignment?
Something that once made sense but no longer fits. - What story about myself am I ready to stop repeating?
“I’m behind.”
“I should be further.”
“This is just how I am.”
Then, Choose a Word You Want to Practice, Not Achieve
Not a theme to perform, rather a quality to rehearse.
Examples:
- Ease
- Courage
- Presence
- Consistency
- Trust
Ask: What would it look like to practice this, imperfectly, all year long?
This shifts the focus from outcomes to how you live inside your days.
Then, Design Your Year Around Energy, Not Time
Instead of asking, “What do I want to do next year?”
Try asking, “How do I want my life to feel most days?”
More spacious?
More grounded?
More playful?
More focused?
When you design around energy, decisions get simpler. You say yes more intentionally. You protect what fuels you instead of just filling your calendar.
Now, Find A Quiet Way Forward
Winding down the year isn’t about judgment. It’s about integration.
You don’t need to fix yourself before January arrives. You don’t need a five-year plan or a flawless vision board.
You just need a moment of truth:
- Three things you’re grateful for
- Two things you’re ready to release
- And a clearer sense of what actually matters next
That’s enough to begin again, calmly, intentionally, and on your own terms.
The next year doesn’t need a louder version of you.
It needs a more aligned one.
Until next time, friends xx
